Great review for River City

River City Review - Lou Sylver

Just got a sumptuous review of “River City” from Lou Sylvre… Why did it take me so long to get through this book? And why did I think about it frequently when I wasn’t reading it? And why did I know I ultimately needed to read to the end? These are the questions I had to ask myself, because it literally took me months to read, and while it’s by no means a short book, it’s not that long. Seriously. So here’s the answer to question 1: I’ve become a lazy reader. This book offers a lot, but it doesn’t … Read more

POINT OF VIEW: Zombies in River City

Hey all, I am working my way through my consistency edit for “The River City Chronicles.” Yeah, I know, hobgoblin of little minds, and all that. But in a work of fiction, consistency is king. And in a serial story, it can be especially difficult to maintain, because a) it’s written over a relatively long period of time, and b) each chapter is published and essentially set in stone almost right away, so it’s harder to go back and fix things. River City

I’m old LOL… And because I’m such a tease, here are the last three lines for your enjoyment: There were two mugs sitting there, littered with bits of dried tea. He picked one up, savoring the lingering smell of vanilla. … Read more

Point of View: Writing Serial Fiction

River City

About five months ago, I was at Rainbow Con, and attended a session with Alex Woolfson and Adam DeKraker of “The Young Protectors” fame. The Young Guardians, for those who aren’t familiar with it, is an LGBT superheroes comic. Alex and Adam put together a new page once a week and post it for free on Alex’s site: The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Title and Credits It’s a great concept – you get to read the whole thing for free, and then you get hooked and want a copy for yourself, which they will happily supply. It got me … Read more

Point of View: Trouble Right Here in River City

River City Chronicles

I’m about to embark on a brand new adventure, something that I as a writer have never done before. I’m going to write a serialized piece of fiction, a story that unfolds slowly and publicly week by week on my blog. And as if that weren’t enough of a challenge, I’m going to release each new episode simultaneously in both Italian and English. Several things have come together recently to make this possible: I started a new blog for myself as a writer in June, which needed content I published Between the Lines with Dreamspinner Press in July, a magical … Read more
