QUEER SCI FI Reviews Prolepsis

Prolepsis Review

“The story is period perfect. I’d forgotten all about CompuServe forums and message boards. It brought back so many memories for me… The whole thing has such a light touch that when a sad revelation is made, it gets you right where it hurts. There are moments of sadness spread throughout a story of such quiet joy and hope. Just like life – good times and bad times hand in hand. Read it, shed that tear, smile that smile and thank all the Seans out there for getting us to where we are today.” Full Story at Queer Sci Fi

REVIEW: Dropnauts

Dropnauts - J. Scott Coatsworth

Just got a five-star review for Dropnauts on Amazon: Dropnauts is both a dystopian and a utopian novel, and a novel about what it means to be human, and how, when things are at their worst, sometimes we are our best. We can redeem ourselves, repair out mistakes. As author Lee Hunt says, the novel is “Fast, optimistic and entertaining. Coatsworth’s Dropnauts shows that forgiveness may the best fuel for redemption” (back cover). This is a novel of hope. According to the review in Publisher’s Weekly, “Redemption, perseverance, and identity … Readers will enjoy the diverse cast and high-tech adventure” … Read more

REVIEW: Between the Lines

Between the Lines - J. Scott Coatsworth

Just got a great review of Between the Lines from Melissa at the Paranormal Romance Guild: What if you could hear the words behind the words? This is a fun combination of politics and magic, with truth being the one thing that ties it all together-or tears it all apart.  The main characters and the premise of the story seem relatively simple and easy, but Coatsworth takes this story into so many unexpected turns. In 100 pages, Brad Weston and Sam Fuller both have their lives changed in profound ways thanks to an anniversary gift. This short read was very … Read more

Lamplighter Gets Its First 5 Star Review!

Melissa at Paranormal Romance Guild just gave my brand new sci-fantasy short Lamplighter a five star review: This is a short story that is part of the Liminal Sky world. And it is fabulous. This quick read is the perfect dip into the world building skill of J Scott Coatsworth and his Liminal Sky series. From word one, you are yanked into the story and, somehow, in just a few sentences, you are immersed in what could be the end of the world. I really loved this little story. REVIEWS for Flames!

Flames

Just got two great reviews for my new rerelease (first time as a stand-alone) novella Flames: Tony at QueeRomance Ink: “One of the messages here, if there is a message, is that people can change. Alex is one of those who manages to take those first steps into light. The touch is light here and there is no preaching. What you get is a sweet love story – a moment of darkness swept away by the finish.” Lee at Liminal Fiction: “…the ideas employed in Flames, and the clever use of metaphor, make this an excellent novella. Flames ingeniously parallels … Read more

Great new Dropnauts review!

Dropnauts review Anna Butler

The thing I always know I’m going to enjoy with any Scott Coatsworth novel is the worldbuilding because (i) it is my JAM and (ii) Scott is very good at it. Dropnauts is no exception. This is a well-realised, fully-fleshed world he has created here, of a destroyed Earth, thought unpopulated, and the attempt to reclaim and recolonise it from the Lunar colonies that are humanity’s last home. The devil’s in the details, and I just loved the way Scott builds pictures of Martinez base, and the Lunar city Redemption – particularly the latter… …the central themes of redemption and renewal shine … Read more
